In other news, and you Bratmobile and Huggy Bear and other such riot grrrlness fans will love this: On www.rookiemag.com, where I am a member, I saw a new post all about a riot grrrl themed video game for the computer-with an original soundtrack by Bratmobile and Huggy Bear! :3 It's called Gone Home. I haven't played it yet, but it seems like a sweet, genuine game with a realistic, believable story behind it. Look it up!

Totally Worth A Visit To Your Local Library
Sweet Jesus...I may live in a rinky-dink, mostly uncultured, podunk little town no-one's ever heard of in one of the unhippest states ever. But I do know this: my local library is actually pretty fucking cool.
Because I found the awesomest (yeah, it's so good, I'm giving up my grammat-Nazi tendencies to tell you) book EVER. It's called From Girls To Grrrlz: A History Of Women's Comics From Teens To Zines. In the teen section, no less! The place you generally find those ridiculous romance novels nowadays!
It's a near-complet history of comics written and drawn about women or girls. It covers the issues of sexism in the sixties and seventies,

Okay. Sorry I had to go all capital letters on you, but I'm starting to notice a pattern here.
More and more girls who submit to this group are submitting pictures of themselves. This group is not a modeling group. It was not intended to be one and it will not become one.
At first I was accepting the pictures, thinking of it as sort of like the book "The Girl Project" (in which teenage girls across the US were sent a digital camera and asked to take pictures of their lives). Now though I see this is not the case and I will reject every self-portrait picture from now on.

In the works is issue one of Riot Grrrl California. (My state is the golden state...I can help you set up a zine for your local riot grrrl chapter and if you are in CA, let me know and DEFF SUBMIT!).
